Dr Karmpaliotis is the President and Founder of CCI. He has decades of experience as a complex, high risk and chronic total occlusions interventionalist, physician leader, scientist and educator. He has spearheaded and led several strong interventional and cardiac critical care programs with a focus on complex coronary interventions and advanced cardiac support. He has previously served as Director of High Risk and Complex PCI at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (New York, NY), Director of the premier high risk PCI conference (CRF CTO Summit) and co-Director at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics Annual Scientific Conference, Director of the Cardiovascular Rescue and Recovery Program at Atlantic Health System (Morristown, NJ) and high risk PCI interventionalist at the Piedmont Heart Institute (Atlanta, GA). He has participated in several clinical trials on coronary interventions, authored or co-authored over 250 scientific and landmark reports and contributed to guideline documents on advanced coronary interventions as well as CathSAP. He has trained several fellows in cardiac critical care and advanced cardiac interventions and actively educates and proctors cardiac interventionalists in the field of complex and high risk PCI. He performs live cases, presents research and teaches at national and international cardiovascular scientific meetings and conferences by invitation. He is an active collaborator in several international scientific meetings including but not limited to EuroCTO, TCT, TCTAP, SCAI, CRT, Emory EPIC and other. He serves on the Editorial Board of JSCAI and on the technical and eligibility committee of the multicenter PROTECT IV trial. He is the principal investigator of the multicenter PROGRESS CTO registry.
